Sione Tuipulotu said the motivation to win trophies with Glasgow Warriors was a major factor in signing a new three-year deal with the club.
Tuipulotu’s future had been the subject of speculation in recent weeks with Bath, Harlequins and Stade Francais among the clubs reportedly interested in signing the Scotland captain.
But the 27-year-old has opted to stay at Glasgow until at least the summer of 2028.

“I'm super happy,” he said at his pre-match press conference before Scotland face the world champions.
"It just gives me so much peace of mind to know this could be my home for the next three years. In terms of making my decision, I had the option of maybe going to the Prem or going over to France.”
Tuipulotu admitted he had discussions with other clubs before deciding to turn down their offers in favour of remaining with Glasgow, who he joined from Yamaha Jubilo in 2021.
He added: “There's always the temptation to try to go somewhere else - you never know how long you're going to play rugby.
“I'm happy where I am, so why try to search for something more, somewhere else when I'm happy right where I am? I'm pretty pleased about staying here at home and I'm relieved.”
Asked how far discussions got with other clubs, he added: "I was pretty clear with my agent and I was pretty open and honest with Glasgow that I would be exploring my opportunities elsewhere just because I think that's just the right thing to do as a rugby player.
“I had maybe a few offers somewhere else and the Glasgow offer, and the Glasgow one just made sense to me.
"I only have relief really that I didn't have to go somewhere else maybe to chase money or play at a so-called higher profile club.
“I'm just happy where I am at Glasgow and to be honest [if it was about] moving somewhere else to chase silverware, I have a pretty good shot of chasing silverware at Glasgow.”
