Scotland need to impose themselves on the match against “strong and athletic” Fiji on Saturday afternoon the as they look for the victory which would send them off to the WV 2 tournament in fine fettle, according to centre Lisa Thomson.
The second Vodafone Series match at Hive Stadium is the last chance the squad have to fine-tune things before leaving for South Africa on Thursday.
Tougher tests than this one against the 14th-ranked team in the world await at WXV 2 in Cape Town versus Italy (September 28), Japan (October 5) and Australia (October 12).
However, the Scots will not be taking the physical and pacy Fijians lightly and will want to win - and win comfortably - to make it 10 victories out of the last 13 Tests.

“Fiji are strong and athletic and we are excited for the challenge,” Thomson, the 27-year-old centre who is a two-time GB sevens Olympian and who is one of eight changes to the starting XV that beat Wales 40-14 eight days ago, said.
“I have played a few times versus them in sevens and it’ll be a tough match and we will have to be sharp defensively.
“We are in a place now where we are expected to win games like this one and we don’t just want to win, we want to be happy with performances too.
“We want to build on the win against Wales and we want to impose ourselves on the Fiji game and put out a really good performance before WXV 2.”
Props Anne Young and Elliann Clarke, second-row Louise McMillan, back-rows Rachel McLachlan and Jade Konkel, scrum-half Caity Mattinson and winger Rhona Lloyd have joined Thomson in coming into a freshened-up starting team.
Mattinson has not played a competitive match since suffering a neck injury against Ireland in April.
Head coach Bryan Easson said: “The work she has done with our head of physical performance Josie Symonds as well as her own diligence has got her back to this stage and it’s great to see.”
The match kicks-off at 4.45pm and will be live across the BBC.
