Former Scotland captain Stuart Hogg will make his Montpellier debut in their Top 14 opener against Lyon tomorrow.

Hogg, who won 100 caps for Scotland before retiring last year, announced a U-turn on that decision and signed for the French side.

He had been expected to miss the early stages of the season after picking up a calf injury, but has made a quicker than expected return to start in the number 15 jersey tomorrow.

Hogg has experienced a turbulent year since announcing his retirement from playing. In April, he revealed he's spent time in a rehabilitation centre.

The 32-year-old's retirement has been plagued by off-field issues. He will face a domestic abuse trial next month having previously pleaded not guilty to three charges involving his estranged wife.

Meanwhile, Jonny Gray could make his long-awaited injury comeback and debut for Bordeaux Begles in their season opener.

The Scotland lock, who has not played since injuring his knee before last year's World Cup, is on the bench for last season's beaten finalists as they host Stade Francais.

Defending champions Toulouse - whose squad includes Hogg's replacement as Scotland fullback, Blair Kinghorn - get their campaign under way against Vannes on Sundau.
