David Nucifora, the man who is widely credited with the transformation of Irish Rugby over the last decade, is set to be appointed Scottish Rugby's new performance director.
The 62-year-old spent just over a decade at the helm of Irish Rugby, during which they won four Six Nations titles - including two Grand Slams.
Rugby Australia (RA) announced last December that Nucifora, who left his job with the IRFU last month, had been recruited to an advisory role.
It is being reported by The Times that he will still provide some consultancy support RA alongside his responsibilities in Scotland, which will see Nucifora join Scottish Rugby on a two-year contract.
He would fill the role vacated by Jim Mallinder, who left Murrayfield earlier this year. Scotland Rugby News understands Nucifora's appointment will be announced early this week.
Scottish Rugby's search for a new chief executive - which was dealt a blow when Mark Darbon, their preferred candidate, turned the job down at the 11th hour in favour of a similar position at The R&A - is also ongoing.
