Four penalties from Scotland fullback Blair Kinghorn guided Toulouse to a record sixth Investec Champions Cup title this afternoon.

Kinghorn's 12-point haul, plus a late penalty from Thomas Ramos, saw the French side overcome four-time winners Leinster at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.

The Scotland international opened the scoring inside five minutes and put Toulouse 6-0 in front shortly after after a dominant start by the French side.

A penalty from Leinster fly-half Ross Byrne halved the deficit, before Kinghorn took centre stage again, hauling down  Dan Sheehan with an excellent cover tackle after the Leinster hooker broke clear.

Kinghorn landed a third penalty four minutes before half-time to restore a six-point lead for Toulouse, but was wayward with a fourth attempt just before the break.

A second penalty from Byrne ensured the gap was just three points at the break, and the Ireland international levelled the game seven minutes into the second period.

The two kickers again exchanged penalties before Kinghorn shifted to the wing mid-way through the second half following the introduction of France fullback Thomas Ramos, who also assumed the kicking duties.

Ramos and fellow sub Ciaran Frawley added a penalty apiece to move the scores to 15-all, and Frawley missed a last-minute drop-goal to win the game.

In the end, they were happy to take the final to extra-time for only the third time, and the first since Toulouse's win over Stade Francais at Murrayfield in 2005.

The game burst into life in the first additional 10 minutes, with James Lowe sent to the sin-bin for a deliberate knock-on. Toulouse took immediate advantage as Matthis Lebel skated down the touchline to score the game's first try. Ramos converted to give Toulouse a 22-15 lead.

Another penalty from Ramos extended the French side's lead to 10 with Leinster still a man down.

Leinster struck back just before half-time in extra-time, former World Player of the Year Josh van der Flier crossing from close range.

But two more Ramos penalties saw Toulouse home 31-23 for their sixth Champions Cup title.
