Adam Hastings is set for another spell on the sidelines after suffering a facial injury in Glasgow's win over Scarlets on Friday night.

The fly-half was helped from the field after a getting his head on the wrong side while attempting to tackle visiting number eight Vaea Fifita.

Post-match Warriors head coach Franco Smith confirmed Hastings, who appeared to be knocked out, was taken to hospital to be assessed.

And Glasgow have confirmed he's set for a spell on the sidelines after undergoing surgery on a facial injury.

An update from the club said:  "Thank you to everyone who has been asking after Adam following his injury on Friday.

"After a short spell in hospital after suffering a facial fracture, he has now been released and is back home - he will now begin working with our medical team on his return to play pathway."

Scotland Rugby News understands he underwent surgery over the weekend and no timelines have been announced for the fly-half's potential return.

But he is set to miss big games for the Warriors, with Champions Cup clashes against Sale Sharks and Toulon in the next fortnight before the 1872 Cup derbies over the festive period.

Given it is just eight weeks until the first game of the Six Nations, Hastings is likely to be a doubt for at least the start of the campaign.

Missing out on the championship would be a further blow for the 28-year-old, who started the autumn wins over Fiji and Portugal and has 32 caps.

Hastings returned to Glasgow in the summer after three injury-hit seasons with Gloucester.
