Former Scotland assistant coach Brad Mooar says returning to the Crusaders in his native New Zealand "feels like coming home".

Mooar worked as an assistant to All Blacks head coach Steve Hansen before being let go in 2022.

He then took up a role as part of Gregor Townsend's backroom staff in the build-up to last year's Rugby World Cup alongside Pete Horne, before the latter's appointment was made permanent.

Mooar, a former head coach at Scarlets, went on to work with Argentina before agreeing a return to the Crusaders, where he was part of the coaching team between 2015 and 2019, when the Christchurch-based franchise began their seven-year Super Rugby winning streak.

“My family and I are really happy to be back in Christchurch, and I’m really excited to be at Rugby Park again. It feels like coming home,” he said.

Mooar added: “It’s wonderful to be back in the mix with the players and staff, and I’m looking forward to connecting with the community again."
