Australia centre Samu Kerevi is a major doubt to face Scotland after being sent off in the win over Wales.

The centre, who won his 50th cap as the Wallabies thrashed Wales in Cardiff, was initially shown a yellow card by referee James Doleman for a dangerous tackle on Jac Morgan. The sanction was then upgraded after an off-field review.

Six Nations Rugby, which looks after disciplinary matters for the Autumn Nations Series, confirmed the centre will attend a disciplinary hearing on Tuesday evening.

A statement said: "Australia number 12, Samu Kerevi, will attend an independent disciplinary hearing after he was awarded a 20-minute red card following a review by the Foul Play Review Officer (FPRO) for an act of foul play contrary to Law 9.13 (A player must not tackle an opponent early, late or dangerously) in the Autumns Nations Series match between Wales and Australia on November 17 2024.

"The player will attend the hearing via video conference before an independent Disciplinary Committee chaired by Brenda Heather-Latu (Samoa)."

Kerevi was making his first international appearance since last year's World Cup. If he is handed a suspension and misses Sunday's match with Scotland at Murrayfield, 21-year-old  Joseph Sua'ali'i could return to the starting line-up.

Sua'ali'i made his rugby union debut in the Wallabies' win over England at Twickenham and featured off the bench during the win in Cardiff.

After Saturday's win over Portugal, Gregor Townsend lauded the former NRL star.

“I thought some of his touches were incredible,” Townsend said of Sua'ali'i.

"For your first game of union, it's a |Test match at Twickenham, and you're able to offload lovely soft touches and he'll take a lot of confidence out of that and I just really know they've got a world-class footballer already."
