Edinburgh head coach Sean Everitt has made five changes to his side for the visit of Cardiff to Hive Stadium on Saturday.

Scotland quartet D'Arcy Rae, Marshall Sykes, Luke Crosbie and Matt Currie all earn places in the starting line-up for the home side.

Boan Venter also comes into the team as Everitt opts to rotate his props, with Pierre Schoeman and Paul Hill both dropping to the bench having started the first four games of the season. After his try-scoring exploits last week, Paddy Harrison is retained at hooker.

Sykes replaces Jamie Hodgson in the second row and will partner captain Grant Gilchrist, while Crosbie takes the number six jersey from Jamie Ritchie, who is rested.

That means Ben Muncaster, last week's Player of the Match, remains on the openside with Magnus Bradbury again at number eight.

Behind the scrum, Ali Price and Ross Thompson - another outstanding performer in the win over 2022 champions Stormers - continue their partnership at half-back, while the back three of Duhan van der Merwe, Darcy Graham and Wes Goosen also remains.

The introduction of Currie in the number 13 jersey means Mosese Tuipulotu shifts to inside centre,

On the bench, Ewan Ashman returns having recovered from the concussion he suffered in the defeat to the Lions, while Hamish Watson also returns having been rested last week.

On the match, Sean Everitt added: “Cardiff’s backs have scored the majority of their tries, and they’ve managed to combine that now with a really strong set-piece and that’s become a weapon of theirs.

“In all aspects of the game, we need to be really sharp on Saturday to be able to get the win.”

Cardiff, meanwhile, make nine changes from their defeat to Scarlets last weekend with Callum Sheedy, the Wales fly-half, assuming the captaincy.
