Glasgow could be boosted by the return of Scotland internationals Scott Cummings and Jack Dempsey against Benetton this weekend, according to defence coach Peter Murchie.

However they will still be without international colleague Huw Jones for the visit of the Italian side to Scotstoun on Friday evening.

Cummings and Dempsey missed the defeat to Ulster in Belfast with foot and back injuries, respectively, but are likely to come into contention this week.

Murchie revealed: “Huw won’t be this week but Dempsey could be in the mix. We just need to make sure he's right. We don't want him to be carrying stuff going into it.

“We'll just check in today on how he is today. Scott [Cummings] trained fully last week. He did a good bit of training on Thursday and Friday when obviously guys are tapering off for the game. The main group's done some good training - he's ready to go.

“Huw’s still a week or so away depending on how it goes. Not him this weekend. We haven't picked up a huge amount from the Ulster game."

Asked if the Warriors squad had come through unscathed from a bruising encounter at the Kingspan, Murchie replied there were "sore bodies" but did not suggest any serious ailments.

That suggests good news for Matt Fagerson, who was forced off late on.
