THOMAS Bob Passed away suddenly whilst Mountaineering in The Lake District. The Funeral Service will take place at Hereford Cathedral on Thursday 5th September at 1.00pm . I met Bob Thomas fairly late in life, I needed a bit of scrambling tuition for myself and a friend. Thus led to many excellent days out, climbing and hiking in the Wye Valley, the Black Mountains and Snowdonia.
This wonderfully assuring and unassuming gentleman gave great confidence and courage to me and my friends, enabling us to broaden our horizons in many ways.
ON occasions I would say 'Have you got me Bob? I've always got you Nicholas' would be the reply and I know he always will.
Now, I reminded of the end of 'Sea Fever.'
'And all I ask is merry yarn from a laughing fellow-rover,
And a quiet sleep and a sweet dream when the long trick's over.
