I'm very saddened to hear that your beloved dad has past away. My heartfelt condolences go out to all of you at this very sad time.
I always appreciated your mum and dad keeping in touch with me after my parents passed on and I had the highest respect for them. I was named after your dad too so I feel so sad at the news.

Dear Jacci and Julie and family,

I am saddened to hear of the loss of your lovely father Dave Abbot.

I have learnt a little about him from my recent meeting with Peter Isaacs, who am sure by now you have met, if not some years ago.

Your Father was a wonderful support to my mother Fiona Warton when she endeavoured to record the personal experiences of the veterans who served in the Cold War years in Oman. He ensured Fiona was well equipped with interview skills to take on a considerable task of recording personal history of around 100 veterans who shared their experiences during the serving in Oman.

I know my mother was indebted to him in equipping her with skills needed to manage this project in a very much male military domaine.

The fruits of her work is now safely archived at Oxford University Centre for Middle Eastern Studies. They now have one of the best collections of Oman history and this is partly thanks to your father investing in her essential training.

I understand your great loss and my thoughts are with you all. Sending you loving prayers and sympathy. Sadly our Mum, Fiona passed away suddenly two years ago. So, on her behalf, I want to send you our family thanks for Dave’s support.
