Edinburgh head coach Sean Everitt conceded his side’s ill-discipline let them down as they lost to Ospreys in Bridgend.

Everitt’s team got on the wrong side of South African referee Griffin Colby in the second half of the 22-13 defeat, with Jamie Ritchie spending time in the sin-bin for repeated infringements.

The Edinburgh boss conceded that always makes life difficult.

He said: “We gave away nine penalties in the second half, seven in the first half - that was always going to make life difficult for us.

“We win games when we give away nine or less penalties and that’s the trend for winning teams at the moment.

“We gave away 16 today so you do not have to look too far away from that figure to see why we did not get into a position to score more.

“I’m disappointed with how the game went. But I thought our boys played really well and there was a lot of effort.”

As a spectacle the match lacked quality, but Ospreys took control of the second half and leave Edinburgh still searching for their first away win of the campaign.

Everitt added: "It reminded me of rugby in the old days. The game lacked a lot of flair and never really got going.

“Credit to Ospreys. We knew what they were going to do, but unfortunately for us we didn’t get ourselves in position in the second half to put points on the board.

“We got into their 22 once in the second half and came away with three points, but not again and the penalties in the middle third denied us territory.

“We felt we had turned a corner with the two home wins, Ospreys gave us what we expected, so we will have to look at our discipline and if we improve there we know we will win.

“It was an opportunity today, we had opportunities to get into their 22 but we let ourselves down.”
