Edinburgh head coach Sean Everitt hailed Scotland international Darcy Graham as one of the best wingers in the world after he scored in his comeback match after being out since January through injury.

It took Graham just six minutes to touchdown in the corner as Edinburgh beat Gloucester 33-26 in a pre-season friendly.

"Darcy has had a great pre-season and the fact he never played for Scotland in the summer tour served him well as it gave him time to recover from injury and he is back to his best," said the Edinburgh head coach. “That is the type of show you get from one of the best wingers in the world, one of best performers at the World Cup, so it was great to have him back."

Everitt went on to praise the performances of tighthead prop Paul Hill and centre Mosese Tuipulotu who were both making their Edinburgh debuts.

"Paul Hill has added a different dynamic to our tight five," he said. “He is a mobile prop and gets around the park and compliments Pierre Schoeman in a way. I was pleased for Mosese as it is not easy to leave your family at home in Australia and come to Edinburgh and learning new ways and meeting new people so we are happy with how he went. He played that first half in the centre along with Matt Scott who did well defensively and put Gloucester under pressure."

Although his first half team- he changed all fifteen at the break- looks the likely combination to start against Leinster in the URC opener next weekend he felt the second half side worked harder.

“The team that came on at half-time showed what work rate is all about,’ he said. ‘They worked harder than the other group and got on top. I thought they showed a lot of resilience to keep the opposition out for the last fifteen minutes.

“Overall there were a lot of pleasing things to take out of that and a lot of work we put in in the off season was on show tonight and that is what these games are for. We have a selection meeting on Sunday and that’s what we want, everybody fit and on form and on track heading into the Leinster game.’
