Glasgow and Edinburgh both rounded out their first block of URC fixtures, ahead of the league making way for international action across the next four weeks.
The Warriors beat the Stormers in South Africa for the first time but Edinburgh's dismal record away to the Ospreys continued.
Here is this week's stats round-up.
Glasgow Warriors
Throughout their encounter with the Stormers, the Warriors stuck to their DNA of turning down kicks at goal and going for tries.
They haven’t scored a penalty in any of their last eight URC regular season fixtures – the longest streak in the club’s history.

Glasgow sent URC title message in Stormers win, insists Huw Jones
Eschewing goal kicks did allow Glasgow to collect the 14th try bonus point they have managed in 22 URC away fixtures under Franco Smith (nine wins and five losses).
Away try bonus points in the URC by head coach:
- Franco Smith – bonus point in 64% of games
- Dave Rennie – 48%
- Gregor Townsend – 27%
- Kiwi Searancke – 25%
- Danny Wilson – 22%
- Sean Lineen – 8%
- Hugh Campbell – 7%
This was the first time in any of their 12 regular season fixtures away in South Africa that the Warriors stopped the home side from collecting any match points.
Try 1: Johnny Matthews
First time in his career he has scored in three consecutive appearances for Glasgow.
This was the 30th Warriors match he has scored in (won 22, lost eight).
He has scored the opening try of the game in three of his last four starts.
Try 2: Sione Tuipulotu
He collected the Player of the Match award for the third time in Glasgow’s last six away fixtures.
His last three tries for the club have all been scored away from home (last try at Scotstoun, November 3 2023 v Stormers).
Try 3: Kyle Rowe
After a two-match drought for the Kyles, the junior member of that duo was back on the scoresheet.
This was his 15th try for Glasgow, in his 22nd appearance. In terms of games played, he is the fastest player to 15 tries in Warriors’ history.
Try 4: Henco Venter
He has scored as many tries in his last 192 minutes of game time as he managed in his previous 3,921 minutes in the URC and Super Rugby.
Edinburgh
Edinburgh’s recent strong record against Welsh sides came to an end after seven straight wins.

That was in no small part due to the capital club only making it into the Ospreys’ 22 on four occasions – the equal fewest 22 entries by a team in any of the 46 matches played in the first block of URC fixtures.
Leaving Bridgend with nothing means that Edinburgh club have collected just three points from their last 11 trips to play the Ospreys in Wales.
Most recent win away to Welsh sides:
- Cardiff – 184 days ago – April 27 2024 (URC)
- Scarlets – 283 days ago – January 19 2024 (Challenge Cup)
- Dragons – 373 days ago – October 21 2023 (URC)
- Ospreys – 5,665 days ago – April 25 2009 (Magners League)
Try 1: Ben Vellacott
Since his first try for Edinburgh (against Benetton in October 2021), no-one has bagged more five-pointers for the club (19).
First time in 2024 that an Edinburgh back has notched a try in a match that their forwards have failed to score in.
