There were 62 tries scored across Round 3 in the URC, with the fixtures involving Glasgow (13) and Edinburgh (11) providing the highest tallies.
Here is a look through some of the weekend’s best stats.
Glasgow Warriors
The aggregate of 88 points in their match with Cardiff, is the most for any URC regular season fixture that the Warriors have played in (434 matches).
The 52 points scored by Glasgow are also the most that Cardiff have conceded in a home league game.
The Warriors hadn’t scored eight tries away from Scotstoun since beating Zebre at Stadio Sergio Lanfranchi in February 2015.
The only time that they have scored more tries outwith Glasgow was in the very first game of the pro era when they notched ten against Newbridge RFC in the 1996/97 Challenge Cup.
Try 1: Jamie Dobie*
Crossed with 05:20 on the clock, the earliest try he has scored for Glasgow with his previous quickest being at 17:56 against the Lions in the Challenge Cup.
Try 2: Kyle Rowe
A player named Kyle has scored in each of Glasgow’s last nine URC regular season fixtures, with Steyn and Rowe bagging 14 tries – seven each – during these games.
R13 - Rowe (3); R14 - Steyn, R15 - Steyn (2); R16 - Steyn; R17 - Rowe; R18 - Rowe; R1 - Steyn; R2 - Steyn (2); R3 - Rowe (2).
Try 3: Tom Jordan
He either scored or assisted five of the Warriors’ eight tries in the game, providing the final pass on Kyle Rowe’s first, as well as Sione Tuipulotu’s and Huw Jones’s scores.
Try 4: Sione Tuipulotu
This is the first time he has scored a try in a game where the Huwipulotu parnership started in the centres.
Try 5: Huw Jones*
Meanwhile, 11 of the 15 tries Jones has scored for Glasgow and Scotland since the start of the 2022/23 season have come while Huwipulotu is on the pitch.
He has notched a try in all four URC games he has played for Glasgow in Wales.
Try 6: Matt Fagerson*
His first try while wearing number 7 for club and country (nine appearances). He has scored 20 in 88 games while wearing the 8 jersey and five in 36 in the number 6.
Try 7: Kyle Rowe
He has now scored five tries across the last 160 minutes he has played in Wales, following this game and his hat-trick versus Scarlets in March.
Try 8: Tom Jordan
This try saw him join the 100 points club for Glasgow. He is the first player to score 20 points in a URC game for the Warriors since Brandon Thomson bagged 24 against Scarlets in December 2018.
Edinburgh
The capital club gave up a league record half-time deficit of 48-0.
While they were able to stem the tide in the second period, only once in their history have they conceded more points in a URC fixture than the 55 racked up by the Lions, that came in a 62-13 loss away to Ospreys in 2014/15.
Try 1: Grant Gilchrist
He was playing the 150th game since he last scored a try – for Edinburgh against the Southern Kings in January 2018.
Across his top level career, he has a total of seven tries in 280 appearances – six tries for Edinburgh (208 games) and one for Scotland (72 games).
Try 2: Patrick Harrison*
Like Gilchrist he also notched his fifth try for Edinburgh. He has taken 192 fewer games to hit that mark though.
Try 3: Ben Muncaster
He also scored Edinburgh’s third try in their home loss to the Lions on October 7 2022.
The capital club couldn’t add a fourth to grab a try bonus point on that occasion either.
With all three of the visitors’ tries scored by forwards, that means that Edinburgh’s backs have scored no tries in their last six away fixtures. A total of 547 minutes of game time have been played away from home since Jake Henry’s try against the Stormers in Cape Town.
