Scotland scored six tries as they saw off a poor USA team at Audi Field in Washington DC.

After a dominant first-half showing that included a hat-trick from hooker Ewan Ashman, Gregor Townsend's side fell away after the break.

Nevertheless Scotland made it two wins from two on their summer tour as they prepare to head to South America to play Chile and Uruguay.

Here's how the players rated.

15. Kyle Rowe

Solid under a couple of high balls early on, and showed his pace with an excellent outside break to put Horne away for his try early in the second half.

14. Kyle Steyn

The Glasgow captain won’t want to see his attempt to gather Rowe’s late kick through with the try line at his mercy.

13. Huw Jones

Is a much more rounded player than the one who first burst onto the Test arena, and contributed with two turnovers. He wasn't at his swashbuckling best, but now delivers much more consistently at Test level.

12. Sione Tuipulotu

Shared the responsibility of managing the referee with co-captain Darge well. Carried hard as expected and made inroads into the US defence and some nice touches to free Hastings. 7

11. Duhan van der Merwe

It was encouraging to see the Edinburgh man off his wing looking for work as he crossed early on. Not so great to see him crabbing across the field with ball in hand and he faded in the second half.

10. Adam Hastings

Back for the first time in 19 months after a horrendous run of injuries, the Glasgow-bound playmaker controlled the attack well. 6

9. George Horne

Continued his excellent Glasgow form here, one moan at referee Jordan Way aside, and finished his try by running his trademark inside trailing line.

1. Pierre Schoeman

Made good ground with ball in hand in close quarters and put Toulouse prop Ainu’u under pressure at the scrum before departing 10 minutes into the second half.

2. Ewan Ashman

Patient at the back of the mauls for each of his tries to make up for a couple of wayward throws.

3. Murphy Walker

Another who has overcome injury problems to earn a place on the tour, but the Glasgow man was quiet in the loose and sent into reverse at one first-half scrum.

4. Alex Craig

Back for the first time since the 2021 form following some fine form with Scarlets, he continued that here. Shrugged off four prospective tacklers on one first-half charge.

5. Scott Cummings

Worked hard around the pitch, but didn’t hit the heights he had achieved with Glasgow at the end of the season.

6. Jamie Ritchie

A big day for the former skipper as he won his 50th cap, and was busy around the pitch in the first half as Scotland got on top. Faded out the game and was replaced by Crosbie  6

7. Rory Darge

Managed the referee well alongside Tuipulotu and was a threat at the breakdown. Got his hands on the ball more than in previous Scotland outings.

8. Matt Fagerson

A sloppy carry from his own 5m line led to Boni’s try for the hosts, but otherwise was busy around the field and deserved his try.

Replacements

16. Robbie Smith

The former Scotland under-20 captain worked hard around the field and put his shoulder to the wheel defensively.

17. Rory Sutherland

Unlucky not to win a turnover penalty shortly after his introduction and part of a dominant scrum effort towards the end of the game. Lovely footwork on one carry to leave two defenders sprawling.

18. Elliot Millar Mills

Excellent scrummaging from the Northampton man after his arrival, but wasn’t too visible in open play. 5

19. Max Williamson

A good tackle on a sniping Smith allowed Fagerson to win an important turnover and stop the US from building momentum.

20. Luke Crosbie

Quiet after replacing his Edinburgh team-mate Ritchie in the final quarter of an hour.

21. Jamie Dobie

Hasn’t played much at scrum-half this season and it showed as Scotland’s control slipped. Was pinged by ref Jordan Way for taking too long at one box-kick. 5

22. Ross Thompson

A clumsy drop from an American kick not his finest hour after an excellent showing in Ottawa last weekend. No real opportunities to get the attack moving in a scrappy finale.

23. Matt Currie

Made one half break after replacing Jones inside the final quarter. Should get more opportunities in South America, though.
